First day of internet training

Today we had an occasion to be trainees to a five day Internet Workshop for Editors and Trainers that was formally held at the Tanzania Global Development Learning Centre in Dar es Salaam. The workshop is organized by MISA-Tanzania and VIKES Foundation and was conducted by Mr.Peik Johansson from the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE Radio Finland.
On the first leg of the workshop trainees numbering 20 had the opportunity to introduce themselves to each other and one another, shortly after the trainer had introduced himself; then came the introduction of the workshop which revolved around major aspects to be covered during the workshop.
After breakfast we set to practically learn by doing how the internet has changed societies and communication globally. The topic consumed much of the day as it was accompanied by practical training on the internet itself which manifested itself in the understanding of the use of the internet to meet several and various obligations in accordance with modern journalism.
The aspect of internet use generated a heated debate among the trainees, especially with regard to the rate of internet usage of the same in Tanzania.
