Day 2
February 3rd,2008

We started on time on the second leg of the raining workshop Both the morning and evening sessions were well attended by the 20 participants who were all eager to learn to do by doing. as the trainer eagerly took us through the learning process for the day
Keeping abreast of time, the trainer took us straight into how one can create one’s blog by using the internet and how information such as pictures, print and others can finally be entered into it .
The creation of the blog is done through a number of processes which are coordinated together ; that was later followed by a lesson on the importance of blogs as a tool for journalists in the age of internet.
We also had the occasion to search for and finally read an important speech by an American called Rupert Murdoch he gave to a meeting of newspaper editors on April 13, 2005
Basically, the speech revolves around three important issues, namely media transformation from traditional media operations to digital performance , which is currently threatening the existence of the traditional media that will find it difficult to cope up with the new innovations arising from the digital ; the role of the journalists, especially in understanding the needs of the readership and the challenges arising there from .

The training on the material day was about searching information on the internet through several and various websites. The trainer introduced us to websites as gateways to information required on the internet. More importantly , we were shown how websites can be easily found out on the internet and, indeed ,their importance especially in searching for requisite facts
We were introduced to both local and international websites which included those for international non-governmental organizations like the red cross and others That was followed by introduction to online journalism.
In the circumstances , the trainees spent the whole day doing journalistic research assignments through the internet.
